Blue Mile 9th edition – October 7th, 2023

The Miglio Blu is a non-competitive challenge open to all the sea and nature lovers, both amateurs and athletes, of all ages. The event allows participants to swim in the Marine Protected Area of Portofino, one of the most striking places in Italy, in total safety.

Itinerary

The race route starts and arrives from Punta Pedale (Santa Margherita Ligure).

N.B. It is not allowed to swim with watches or computers. It is allowed to swim with the wetsuit.

Organization

The 8th edition of the Blue Mile is realized in cooperation with FICR (National Timekeepers Federation). The event has the support of Santa Margherita Ligure Municipality, Regione Liguria, Portofino Municipality, Portofino Marine Protected Area  and Endas.

Sponsor of the event: Cressi Swim, Usobio, Latte Tigullio, Niasca Portofino.

Registration

Confirm your registration in advance!

  • from Sept. 1st to 15th: € 18
  • from Sept. 16th to 28th: € 20
  • from September 29th until 12 p.m. of October 5th: € 25

The cost does not include the chip deposit provided for all participants in the mile race. The deposit of € 10 will be collected on site the day of the event at the chip delivery and returned after the race, if there are no damages and/or losses.
*In case of cancellation of the race, a coupon will be given valid for registration for the next edition or used for rental or tours with Outdoor Portofino.

Final date for registrations is October 5th, 2023 at 12 p.m.

At the moment of registration, participants need to:

  • if amateurs, attach the qualifying medical certification to non agonistic sport activity and, if members of Outdoor Portofino (Endas membership card, currently valid), specify the card number;
  • if professional swimmers, specify the number of the FIN or FITRI card;

How to reach us

The meeting point is at Punta Pedale in Santa Margherita Ligure.

Here are some suggestions on how to reach us:

By train

The train station of Santa Margherita Ligure/Portofino is reachable from Milan (2 h 30 min), from Genoa (45 min), from Pisa (2 h). You may then continue walking, by bus, boat or taxi.

By bus

With the n. 82 line from the train stations of Santa Margherita Ligure or from Rapallo.

Walking

From Santa Margherita Ligure (approx. 30 min.); from Portofino (approx. 40 min.); from Camogli, through the trails of the park of Portofino.

By boat

There are two lines serving the promontory of Portofino. From Santa Margherita Ligure you can reach Portofino with the Consorzio Marittimo del Tigullio. From Genoa, Recco or Camogli, instead, the boat service Golfo Paradiso, embraces the route to San Fruttuoso, from where you can then take the ferries of the Consorzio Marittimo del Tigullio to Portofino.
